Original 1984 Metallica – Ride The Lightning LP on Elektra 60396-1. This is the AR Pressing – Allied Record Company pressing from November 19, 1984, the first Elektra major label issue.

Pressed at Allied Record Company Los Angeles, lacquer cut at Masterdisk NYC by Howie Weinberg with MASTERDISK HW in deadwax, mastered by Bob Ludwig, plated at Specialty Records Corp. Features Allied ɑ logo, SRC logo, SPAR, and delta numbers △ 8471 in runouts.

Side A matrix ST-E-60396-1-A-AR / STE-60396-A-3 B-20440-AB. Side B matrix ST-E-60396-1-B-AR / STE-60396-B-3 B-20441-B2 / B-20441-B3. All markings confirmed in photos.

This is NOT the original 1984 Megaforce MRI 769 - this is the first Elektra reissue that broke Metallica to a major label, 4 months after the Megaforce. The AR pressing is the most documented variant with Masterdisk HW cut by Howie Weinberg and Bob Ludwig. Your deadwax B-20441 is exactly the Allied pressing run. This one has the standard commercial black/red Elektra labels - the promo version of this same AR pressing has white labels with gold foil stamp. Cliff Burton era, Dave Mustaine co-writes on 2 tracks, and early pressing before Elektra corrected the label.Condition from photos: Jacket VG - ring wear, corner wear, surface scuffs, in poly outer. Vinyl appears in new white inner, labels clean. This copy shows MASTERDISK clearly in deadwax which collectors want.

Identified by AR suffix on labels, embossed A near spindle, muffin-style depressed labels, SPAR in runout, Allied ɑ logo and SRC logo in deadwax.
