About JHVinylShop

This is our story and we’re sticking to it!

JHVinylShop vinyl collection

In November 2016, after a series of unfortunate events and from an inherited stack of LPs that were destined for a landfill, Jason Hathaway, 33, of Arizona, USA, saw the potential for an “Old School Record Store,” and the idea for JHVinylShop was officially conceived.

Jason was unwittingly about to discover that some records are far more difficult to put down than they are to pick up.

History has shown that some of life’s most interesting discoveries tend to appear when people are willing to look at familiar things from a different perspective.

The difference was that, in this particular case, the records had more to say than anyone expected.

The Records Had More To Say

With much room consumed by stacks of Vinyl LPs, hundreds upon hundreds of albums, Jason and a few close acquaintances partied together and decided it was time to explore the inherited collection for themselves.

At the peak of the evening, and with a single drop, the stylus landed in some dusty grooves that were chock full of Back-Masking and Mind-Bending Effects. Jason became instantaneously hooked.

He was about to embark on a trip that would change his life from that point forward.

That night, Jason’s spirit transcended above all else, and that’s when he first entertained the idea of building a record store from a Plastic Tote.

The idea for JHVinylShop was now set in stone.
The purpose was simple: share the magic of 33’s with the world.

It was an enlightening calling from the universe.

Building Something Worth Preserving

He invested countless hours learning everything he could about vintage vinyl records, and the deeper he went, the more there was to learn.

He naturally developed a special appreciation for Classic Rock, Psychedelic Prog Rock, and rarities from the late 60’s and early 70’s that helped pave the way for much of the music we enjoy today.

Just like that, Jason found himself treading along a path that helped keep a nearly forgotten media format alive.

He was building something worth preserving.

Independently Owned And Operated

Soon, his wife Kayla, who had been keeping tabs on things, also found herself dropping into the picture. While JHVinylShop remained Jason’s project, Kayla shared in the experience, developed an appreciation for vinyl records, and remains a supportive part of the story to this day.

Today, JHVinylShop remains independently owned and operated by Jason Hathaway and continues to be fueled by a passion for 33’s, music history, and the culture surrounding vinyl records.

Aside from steady growth, very little has changed since 2016. JHVinylShop continues to operate the same old-fashioned way it always has.

From Northwest Arizona To Collectors Everywhere

Located in the high deserts of Northwest Arizona, between Sin City, the Grand Canyon Skywalk, and historic U.S. Route 66, JHVinylShop is alive and bigger than ever.

Every record is personally inspected, graded, cleaned, photographed, packaged, and shipped with collectors in mind. Honesty, integrity, and transparency remain at the heart of everything we do.

None of this would be possible without the support of the collectors, customers, and music lovers who have chosen to be part of the journey. For that, we remain genuinely grateful.

By now, our tale probably tells itself.
