Reprise Records

Reprise Records

Reprise Records is a record label that was founded in 1960 by Frank Sinatra and his business partner, Mo Ostin. Sinatra had previously founded Verve Records, but he sold his share in that label to focus on Reprise. Reprise was originally established as a vehicle for Sinatra's own recordings, but it quickly expanded to sign other artists. Reprise Records was known for its eclectic roster, which included jazz, pop, rock, and folk musicians. Some notable Reprise artists from the 1960s and 1970s include The Kinks, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, and Neil Young. In 1971, Reprise became a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records, but it maintained its own distinct identity and continued to operate as a separate label. Today, Reprise is still an active label under the Warner Music Group umbrella, with a diverse roster of artists across various genres.
