# Getting Started - DAS-ACT-0001 Yumi v1.0

Welcome. This guide is for **end users** who want to generate Yumi images with AI tools (Meta AI, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.). You do not need to read the full JSON spec or Design Book to begin.

## What you downloaded

The Builder **does not generate images**. It prepares images + text you paste into your AI app.

## First image in 3 steps (Builder wizard)

1. **Open Yumi Builder** in your browser (hosted URL or local copy).

2. **Step 1 - Reference images**
   - Review the 8 official reference cards (portrait, front, detail panel, expressions, back, left, right, full body).
   - Check or uncheck refs to include in your export.
   - Optional: upload **custom reference images** if you have your own good Yumi renders to add alongside the official set.

3. **Step 2 - Customize canonical Yumi**
   - **Core identity** (face, freckles, beauty marks) always applies.
   - Each wardrobe / accessory row uses **Match | Gone | Instead**:
     - **Match** = keep canonical item (default)
     - **Gone** = remove that item from the shot
     - **Instead** = replace with your text (and optionally upload a replacement reference image)
   - Optional: **Also add** props (text + optional prop image upload).
   - Set pose, expression, scene, camera look, and **Notes for AI** as needed.

4. **Step 3 - Ship your package (images first)**
   - Open your AI image tool **before** you export.
   - **Step 1 (images):** Download the **complete package (zip)** and/or **contact sheet (PNG)**.
   - Attach those images in your AI tool (`references/`, `replacement_refs/`, `props/` as included).
   - **Step 3 (text):** Click **Copy text for AI** or **Save text file only (.txt)**, then paste **after** images are attached.
   - Generate and review with the checklist in the pasted text.

## What the 8 references do

They lock **identity** - face, hair, outfit, accessories - not pose or background.

**Keep attaching all selected refs** every new session. Custom refs and replacement uploads from Step 2 ride along in the zip and contact sheet when present.

## Canonical terminology (quick)

| Term | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| **Beauty marks** | LM-001 on left cheekbone beneath left eye; LM-002 on left side of nose bridge |
| **Hip straps** | Thin black straps visible above the jeans waistband on both hips (LM-031, LM-032) |

The Builder export uses these terms so AI tools stay on-model.

## Camera & photo look (Meta AI smoothing fix)

If results look **too smooth, plastic, or beauty-filtered**, use:

- **Look preset:** Match reference realism (default)
- This adds anti-smoothing language to your export automatically

For other styles, try: Modern DSLR, Classic film 80mm, Smartphone selfie, Flip-phone vintage, Polaroid, Black and white.

**Who holds the camera:** Third person (default), Yumi selfie, or Mirror selfie.

## Notes for AI (optional)

Describe anything your AI tool sees that the Builder did not upload. Examples:

> Also attaching my back-view PNG from yesterday. Same Yumi - red jacket replaces default tee.

Replacement ref uploads and prop images from Step 2 are listed automatically in the copied text attach block.

## Next shots and iteration

1. Save images that pass the checklist.
2. Next time: official refs **plus** your saved images (Step 1 custom refs or Step 2 replacement uploads).
3. Use Notes for AI to explain anything extra you attach manually.
4. Do **not** remove core identity or all official refs on the default path.

## Troubleshooting

| Problem | Try this |
| --- | --- |
| Wrong face / not Yumi | Attach all 8 refs; portrait + expressions first |
| Skin too smooth / plastic | Default camera look; regenerate |
| Back view forgets front | Attach back AND front refs together |
| Face wrong after being off-screen | Re-attach portrait + expression refs |
| Tool limits attachments | Use Critical 4 first; see Builder Advanced |
| Builder shows error loading data | Open via hosted URL or run a local web server |
| Missing custom / replacement images in export | Download zip or contact sheet from Step 3; check Step 2 Instead uploads |
